Taking a nonprofit on the road.
Follow me to Venice. Venice on Vine is a job training and placement program for individuals with barriers to employment, using a pizzeria and catering kitchen as a unique classroom. It is part of the larger umbrella organization Power Inspires Progress, a non-profit founded in 1986 by two nuns.
Venice on Vine recently expanded its footprint by leasing a food truck, to be branded Nun Better. The truck needed to be eye-catching and recognizable, instantly communicating its mission to anyone who happened to spot it driving by or serving a community.
The art is inspired by the paintings of Lowell Herrero, who had an affinity for farmers and other simple folk working the land and depicted them in a larger-than-life style.
